Well hello, it's me again

So let me get this straight. I've been ambivalent and uninspired to write lately, and in the past few months: Boards of Canada finally announced a new album...Neutral Milk Hotel announced they're going out on a reunion tour....Avey Tare from Animal Collective announced some weird sideproject...My Bloody Valentine released a new album finally....there's a new borderline excellent record by Thee Oh Sees out. This is all some kind of weird joke or dream, right?

Next thing you'll tell me there's a new album by Blackout Beach, from my beloved Carey Mercer, which somehow came out without my knowledge, right? Ha ha, real funny.

Oh, wait....that did happen, too.

"W-what?!"

It's like music wants me to care again or something.

Anyway, enough clowning. I'm stuck in Toledo for another year so I'm going to get back in the saddle soon, because I have nothing better to do. Got some catching up to do and some changes to make around here, that's for durn sure.

More Like...Redesign Pie

Ever since I first cobbled together the layout for Whiskey Pie, I've wanted something better. I'm passively asked a couple friends to take a shot at making this blog not look like crap, but none of them took me up on it. Oh well! The new design may take a bit of getting used to, but I much prefer the cleaner, more minimalist B&W look. Sadly, YouTube videos still aren't displayed properly...but I haven't done one of those for months anyway.

In other news, I'm going go try to get more posts done. I know I've been lax lately, but I've been re-thinking what I want Whiskey Pie to be.

What this means to you is that you'll be seeing more non-music and non-review content. I want t be able to muse on movies, videogames, books, as well as music, without having to cook up reviews with scores attached to them. Sometimes I'll to revisit things I have reviewed because I have more to say; sometimes I'll want to explore personal or cultural aspects of something. At the same time, I hope to start doing videos again. I haven't decided if they'll be like they were or something else. They're still really new to me and I'm trying to come up with a good format that works with the constraints of the equipment I have. Also, my charming personality and very exciting deliver. Oh wait...

Anyway, there's a slew of albums that have come out this year or that are soon coming out that I need to get to, so if you'll excuse me.

Enjoy.

It bears mentioning (does it bear mentioning??)

I suppose I should've made this clear in my first post, but we aren't going to update on weekends. We are but men, men with the need to rest and replenish. Speaking of which, I am currently down with disease, as some folks say, and I get to work all day tomorrow so even if I wanted to update today or tomorrow, it would be feverish dreams far stranger than you should normally expect from me--updates which are still pretty strange, all told.

Actually, I reserve the right to rescind this rule should the mood and inspiration strike me simultaneously.

Also, while I'm at it, I'll speak for CJ and I--because I'm presumptuous like that, god damnit--and state for the record that even though we're trying to post something everyday from Monday through Friday, we will probably miss from time to time. It just happens when you're doing something as a labor of love and not as an occupation. However if I ever somehow become wealthy enough to do this as a living, or even semi-living, know that I would update everyday, unlike, say, VGCats, that subpar webcomic that manages new content once every console generation.

But I digress. My eyes hurt and the only thing I have the energy to do is lay in bed and listen to old GFW podcats.
